The gag was a risky proposition from the start. It presupposes the reader has active knowledge of a decades-old food mascot and the forensic details surrounding a celebrity death that occurred in 1926. I figured they were both pretty popular in their day so I had a shot at funny. Misfire? I don't know. I like it. And if only one per cent of the people who see this get a giggle, that's fine by me.
In a further attempt to suck even more humour out of the gag, I've deconstructed the illustration process in some work-in-progress steps below. -v
